Following a theft from a construction site
at the beginning of the year, one construction site owner has actively taken steps
to prevent this from happening again at this site, and other construction sites
throughout the surrounding area.
He is taking precautions through
investigating the various construction
security services which are currently available to utilise such as site CCTV and other
types of electronic construction
site security systems. The CCTV cameras will be added to the already basic
security measures which are currently in place.
The security measures which can currently be found on the site include
security fencing surrounding the perimeter of the site, the implementation of
having a clean site at all times, and that all valuables are always put away
behind locks at the end of the day. The
company already has site CCTV installed at another construction site in the
area which recorded a theft which took place during the early hours of the
morning.
After the break-in took place the
construction company had to pay $2,000 due to the theft of the copper wiring
which was stolen from the site. The thieves also caused a significant amount of
hydro damage after they ripped out one of the sites temporary power lines.
Though the company usually reports all
thefts to the authorities, they consequently had to pay out to cover the costs
of the damage caused by the thieves.
Though many people believe that insurance policies cover them will in
the event of this type of damage happening, in fact many insurers do not pay
out for damage if the appropriate security measures- such as site security- are
not in place.
In addition to the copper located on the
site the thieves also stole a range of other commodities too- including 72
steel brackets and other expensive tools and equipment. They also cut a number of large power cables
to the machinery in order to obtain a supply of copper wire.
